Three Days for Peace: the Lamp and the Polenta for Peace

About the event

The programme opens on Thursday 24 September, when an athlete from Ledro carries the Lamp from Bar della Ponale to the Museo delle Palafitte del Lago di Ledro. At 8pm, at the museum, there is a meeting "around the fire, talking about peace", with Paolo Fedrigotti on the reasons for peace and Avvenire journalist Antonella Mariani on the petition for the Nobel Prize for the children of Gaza and on the condition of women in conflicts.

On Saturday 26 September the Lamp is brought into the church at Bezzecca for the Holy Mass for Peace.

On Sunday 27 September, athletes from Ledro carry the Lamp in a relay, through the local Pro Loco associations, from the Museo delle Palafitte to Pieve, with the arrival accompanied by music from the Banda di Ledro. This is followed by lunch with polenta concia della Pace, and in the afternoon an initiative with Plasticfree in collaboration with Progetto Mutuo Aiuto VS Ecoansia.

Getting to Ledro

From Riva del Garda take the SS240 west through the tunnel into the valley; from Milan and Brescia the approach is via Tormini and the Val Sabbia. The nearest station is Rovereto, with buses to Riva and onward connections to the Ledro villages. On foot or by bike, the Ponale trail climbs from Riva to the valley.

Parking: In Pieve di Ledro there is parking between Via Imperiale and Via Nuova near the info point; the Lago d'Ampola visitor centre is reached by boardwalk from its own car park.

About Ledro

Ledro is a mountain valley just west of Riva, reached through the tunnel on the SS240 or, for walkers and cyclists, up the old Ponale road carved into the cliff. The municipality was formed in 2010 from the villages around the lake and along the valley: Molina, Pieve, Mezzolago, Bezzecca, Tiarno and others.
