Gino Pancheri. Female Figures

About the event

From 5 September to 8 November, Casa degli Artisti "Giacomo Vittone" dedicates a new exhibition to Gino Pancheri (Trento, 1905-1943), continuing its ongoing focus on the theme of women in art.

Curated by Roberta Bonazza, "Gino Pancheri. Female Figures" brings together works in which the Trentino painter portrays women in everyday life, set in suspended, contemplative atmospheres — silent figures often caught in moments of waiting, expressing the artist's gentle, intense poetics.

Alongside the portraits, a small section is devoted to landscapes, another central theme in his work. Pancheri trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, and his painting matured mainly in the 1930s, partly through encounters with figures such as Giacomo Manzù, Carlo Carrà and the poet Alfonso Gatto.

In 1938 he moved to Tuscany in search of wider landscapes and warmer tones. His work was cut short in 1943, when he died during the bombing of Trento.

Getting to Tenno

From the A22 exit Rovereto Sud/Lago di Garda Nord follow the SS240 to Riva, then climb north past Varone towards Tenno. Rovereto is the nearest station; from Riva, local buses serve Varone and the Tenno villages.

Parking: In Tenno village there is parking on Via dei Laghi near the playground; Lago di Tenno has a car park with an info point, and the Cascata del Varone park has free public car parks.

About Tenno

Tenno is a scattering of small villages on the hillside above Riva, between vineyards and olive groves at the foot of Monte Misone. The battlemented castle, sacked by French troops in the 18th century, still watches the old road from the lake to the Giudicarie, and below it the fortified hamlet of Frapporta is entered through an arched gate.
