About the event

In September, Peschiera del Garda opens the doors of its history and relives the atmosphere of 1866, a decisive year for the area and for the Italian Risorgimento. From 25 to 27 September 2026 the town hosts "La Caduta del Quadrilatero", a historical reenactment that brings men, uniforms, stories and scenes of nineteenth-century life back to the walls of the Fortezza.

The historic centre and the spaces of the Fortezza turn into a large period setting: military encampments come to life, patrols move through the streets, while re-enactors and historical groups recreate moments of everyday life. Training drills, duels, demonstrations and battles bring visitors closer to the events of 1866, while visits and in-depth moments tell the story of the town's historical and military heritage. Music, dances and other activities complete the period atmosphere.

Getting to Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera del Garda station is on the Milan–Venice railway, with regional and fast trains from Verona, Brescia and Milan. By car, use the Peschiera del Garda exit of the A4. Navigazione Laghi boats connect Peschiera with Sirmione, Desenzano and the eastern shore, and a shuttle runs from the station to Gardaland.

Ferry: Peschiera is the south-eastern terminus of the Navigazione Laghi network (Peschiera–Riva is one of the day-pass zones); no car ferry.
