Limone sul Garda squeezes onto a narrow strip of shore beneath sheer limestone walls, the last Lombard village on the west shore before Trentino.
Its old centre is a knot of lanes, stairways and a small harbour, framed by the tall stone pillars of the limonaie, the lemon houses that once made this the northernmost commercial citrus growing area in the world. The Limonaia del Castèl, begun in the early 1700s and reopened by the comune in 2004, grows around a hundred citrus plants and is open to visitors.
Missionary Saint Daniele Comboni was born here, and the Centro Comboniano keeps his birthplace. Since 2018 a cycle and foot path has hung over the water from the centre towards Capo Reamol, walkable in under an hour.
Beaches are pebble or gravel, from Spiaggia Cola and Grostol near the centre to the quieter Spiaggia Sé. Limone suits cyclists, walkers and families, and boats link it to Malcesine on the opposite shore.

What to see
Limonaia del Castèl
Restored eighteenth-century lemon house owned by the comune, with about a hundred citrus plants; in 2026 entry was €2 and it opened daily from late March to 1 November.
Ciclopedonale sul Garda
Cycle and foot path anchored to the cliff above the water, opened in 2018 from the centre to Capo Reamol, lit at night and without steep climbs.
Centro Comboniano
Birthplace of Saint Daniele Comboni, with a chapel, a small museum and a garden with a restored lemon house at Tesöl.

Getting there and around
- By car
- By car, the tourist office recommends the A4 exit Brescia Est, then the road towards Salò and on along the lake following signs for Riva del Garda; from the north, come via Riva (A22 exit Rovereto Sud).
- Train and bus
- The nearest railway stations are Desenzano del Garda and Rovereto. Arriva buses on the Riva – Desenzano line (LN027) and the Riva – Brescia line stop opposite the tourist office on Via IV Novembre.
- By boat
- Navigazione Laghi boats and fast services call at Limone centro, with some runs also at the Limone multipiano pier; the shuttle to Malcesine leaves from Piazzale Alcide De Gasperi and is one of the most frequent routes in the summer timetable.
- Parking
- Paid car parks: Multipiano via Caldogno (266 spaces, at the entrance to the village near the tourist office), Parcheggio Lungolago (111 spaces) and the six-level Multipiano Lungolago (608 spaces); 2026 rates were €3.50 for the first hour and €2.50 for each further hour. Free spaces with a parking disc are on Via Tamas (8 h) and Via Fasse (2 h), and free unrestricted parking on Via Tovo and Via Einaudi. Parking is free throughout the comune from about November to mid-March.
