Tignale is not one village but six: Gardola, the seat of the comune at about 560 metres, and Piovere, Prabione, Aer, Olzano and Oldesio, scattered across a green terrace high above the west shore.
At lake level there is only a narrow strip around Porto di Tignale and Pra dela Fam, where an eighteenth-century lemon house built by the Parisini family still grows citrus beside a gravel beach. The landmark is the Santuario della Madonna di Montecastello on Monte Cas, a limestone spur that drops sheer to the water; a double flight of steps leads to a church holding a fourteenth-century fresco attributed to Giotto's school.
In Prabione, the Museo del Parco Alto Garda Bresciano covers the geology, forests and working life of this shore, and the plateau is also a base for the Flying Frogs adventure park. Tignale suits hikers, mountain bikers and families who want cooler air, a view across to Monte Baldo and a quiet base away from the busy lake road.

Getting there and around
- By car
- From the Gardesana Occidentale between Gargnano and Limone, a side road climbs to the plateau. The nearest motorway exits are Desenzano del Garda on the A4 (via Salò) or Rovereto Sud on the A22 (via Riva).
- Train and bus
- By public transport, take the train to Desenzano del Garda, Arriva bus LN027 to Gargnano, then local line LN011 (Gargnano – Muslone/Tignale).
- By boat
- Tignale has its own Navigazione Laghi pier at lake level, but in the summer 2026 timetable only a couple of boats a day called there; check the current timetable.
